Mission Statement:
Tubbs Hill, Inc. is a non-profit association dedicated to the preservation of Tubbs Hill City Park as a unique and natural lakeshore forest typical of North Idaho while providing for compatible public use. We act as advocates for the park; advise the city administration on issues pertaining to the park; and support volunteer efforts, fund raising, community relations, and other tasks as needed to achieve this goal.
Tubbs Hill Needs You!
The Tubbs Hill Foundation is looking for a few individuals who care about Tubbs Hill to join us on our board. Our mission is to help keep Tubbs Hill in its natural state and still enable appropriate public use, and we advise the city on management of Tubbs Hill. We meet the second Thursday of every month at 8:30 a.m. Meetings usually last about an hour and a half. Anyone is welcome to attend, and if you are interested in being on the board that is an excellent way to learn more. If you have questions or are interested, please email us at friendsoftubbshill@tubbshill.org.

What do we actually do? Recent efforts include:
Cleanup work: the foundation hosts multiple public clean-up events each year and encourages everyone to pick up litter while hiking.
Advocate & coordinate with City Fire and Parks Departments to support prescribed burning.
Promote Best Management Practices by supporting actions identified by forestry and fire professionals.
We are working in concert with the Museum of North Idaho on an outdoor interpretive display at the new museum site at the base of the hill.
We launched a new program, Tubbs Hill Ambassadors, to place volunteers on the hill during the summer season to answer questions, help with directions, and offer reminders to follow the city’s rules governing use of the hill.
We began to develop Every Kid on Tubbs, in partnership with the University of Idaho CdA, to develop a grade level appropriate curriculum that engages local 4th grade students in learning the natural and human history of Tubbs Hill.
Trail Work. In 2020, numerous board members and other Friends of Tubbs Hill members participated in 26 trail day activities with a documented 422 hours of volunteer time, calculated to be worth $9,512. This does not include the folks who participated in the two official cleanup days or those that pick-up litter, trim brush, adjust fallen rocks etc. throughout the year.
